Meoni's Naked Rallye 950

 


Our friend Barbasma took these images of Fabrizio Meoni's Rallye 950 at a meeting with Meoni's mechanic Romeo Feliciani in 2004.

1) the bike was too low for Meoni, he request longer front suspension... first KTM put an aluminum part on the top of the forks.... and after WP made special suspension with travel 330 mm for him... also on the rear...


2) the bike is too heavy on the front.... Meoni cannot ride on the sand easily...  and he cannot get up the front of the bike to jump over stones and other.....so they put OIL TANK and BATTERY under the seat.... the weight must be all on the rear...
Romeo said to us that he tried and tried to say to KTM to let them also in the standard bike.... but they says NOT...
but is very simple to change this position and make a oil tank (aluminum) bigger under the seat
Check out the K&N pre-filter. Also, look how far the fork tube are recessed down into the triple clamp. More evidence of Meoni's desire to shift weight off the front end.

The red arrow in the image below points to the return oil cooler line from the right side of the cooler. You can see its route better in the image above. The yellow arrow points to the tank vent line that goes to the rear cylinder valve cover.

The red arrow in the image below points to the catch device for the ignition cover crankcase vent. Any oil that overflows the device lube the drive chain directly below it. Lots of interesting stuff in this image if you look closely. How many can you find?

Notice the braided stainless line marked with a red arrow in the image below. It is connected to a port that is unused in the production bikes. That port taps into a high pressure oil gallery near the output of the pressure oil pump. The green arrow points to a line connected to the output port of the suction (scavenging) oil pump. This is where the oil tank return line on the production bike is connected. On Meoni's bike it goes to the oil cooler under the headlight. The blue arrow points to the line from the oil tank that supplies the pressure oil pump.


3) The Meoni bike have OIL COOLER (under the front light) and a BIGGER LIQUID COOLER...
The green arrow, in the image below, points to the line coming from the scavenging pump.


4) The wheels... the LC8 standard wheels are not so good for heavy offroad... they are quiet large... and so not so resistant... but this is also a street bike...
on the standard bike you cannot mount MICHELIN DESERT... the channel is too large... KAROO 2 are shit... and you cannot take off the tires without a machine!!!!!!

Notice there are several flat spots on this Excel Rim. Meoni rides very, very fast.


YOU CAN PUT LC4 WHEELLS ON LC8 EASELY....

5) EPC and other exhaust system...
Romeo said to us to TAKE OFF all this SHIT....

Skid plate is of very light and strong carbon fiber. Again to keep the front end as light as possible for Meoni.
